Description
Coming from Bellinzona, the silhouette of the Palazzo Comacio appears on the outskirts of Roveredo, right next to the Romanesque tower of the church of San Giulio. The imposing building bears the name of its builder, Tomaso Comacio.
Roveredo is the main town of Mesolcina and is located in the valley floor. The village is nestled in a hilly mountainous landscape that conveys a sense of security. In addition to some remarkable historical buildings, Roveredo offers a lively village life and an intact infrastructure, such as grocery stores, a organic shop, two butcher's shops, two pharmacies, a bakery, restaurants and bars.
The Moesa river, which flows through the village, offers safe bathing opportunities in the summer season.
Bellinzona can be reached by public transport in half an hour, Locarno and Lugano in one hour.
Art and Culture
The Val Calanca and the Val Mesolcina offer a rich cultural life. Here people dance, sing, eat, drink, laugh, sow, harvest...
People meet in the mountains, in the valley, on the horseback, on hikes, art exhibitions and vernissages.
There are countless opportunities to enjoy yourself, whether relaxing, on an exploration tour by bike, a refreshing bath in the Moesa river or a shower under one of the many waterfalls of the valley.
