Ferienhaus Chasa Mazzina

All rooms are designed in a rustic style with wooden paneling. Two rooms have a washbasin.

The farmhouse “Chasa Mazzina” was built in the 16th century in the heart of the village of Sent. Our parents, Robert and Annemarie Schenkel-Affolter, acquired it in the 1960s as a token of gratitude for the financial and moral support provided by the then community president Johann Faller and his wife, Duonna (Mrs.) Mazzina, during the renovation of the church and its bell tower.

Over the years, the Engadin house has been restored and renovated in stages according to historical specifications and templates. On the ground floor is the traditional “Arvenstube” (living room with pine paneling), which was once the true focal point of family life—not only because it was the only heated room besides the kitchen. The kitchen has now been relocated to what was formerly the smokehouse. In the room that once served as a storage and sales shop, a bedroom has been set up alongside the farm room from 1789, which is used privately.

On the upper floor, there are a total of four bedrooms. Walls, ceilings, and the meter-thick exterior walls are lined with paneling made of fir or birch wood, creating a cozy, rustic atmosphere. The second small smokehouse on the upper floor has been converted into a wet cell.

The former stable in the cellar now serves as an additional lounge with a built-in fireplace.

The village center of Sent has largely retained its original character. Newer, modern buildings have been constructed exclusively outside the village. The Lower Engadin offers ideal conditions year-round for those who enjoy hiking, sports, or simply relaxing. There are a variety of leisure activities, numerous attractions, and beautiful tours in the immediate vicinity.

Since we ourselves do not occupy our second home permanently and a house only truly comes to life when people live in it, we have opened our doors to guests who wish to experience the special charm of this lovingly restored holiday home.
