Ca Granda

The Ca Granda is at the entry of the village Cragno, on the versant of the Monte Generoso, in the town of Salorino (Tessin, Switzerland). The village is accessible by car from Mendrisio. The house offers a modern gastronomic kitchen with crockery for 50 persons. Activities in the house can take place in the dining hall (with fireplace) and in the multipurpose room, which is furnished with tables and chairs. The well conserved cellar with a floor of natural soil was cut into the rock and now contains a deep freezer. The playground in front of the house and a terrace offer a good view of the Monte Generoso. Starting from Cragno you can plan many excursions on foot or by bike into the area of the Monte Generoso (1704 metres above sea level). The summit offers a marvellous view of the Alps, the Lombardian Plain (Italy) and the extraordinary Valley Muggio. The latter is known for its lime soil with its very special flora and fauna and its special rural buildings such as the roccoli (bird catchers's houses) and the nevere (holes in the ground for conserving food with snow).
