From Goms to Simplon pass

The Alpine passes trail connects the most beautiful valleys of Valais. This tour starts in Goms, this dreamy river valley, where small typical Valais houses nestle on the banks of the young Rhone, all the way to the Alpine valleys. The end of the trip is rough and rocky. Snow covered peaks tower above the valleys and some of the wildest tales of mountaineers were written in these valleys.

Itinerary

Day 1: Individual arrival in Ulrichen | Ulrichen – Blitzingen

On a sunny slope above the Rhone through Goms. With little height difference along the mountain flanks, through forests and Alpine pastures. Sun-browned old storage huts and barns. Views deep into the valley to villages striking for their compact design.

Day 2: Blitzingen – Binn

Through tiny traditional villages in lush pastures to Ernen, where well-kept buildings and the «William Tell House» (oldest painting of Tell), are a surprise. Through the impressive Twingischlucht gorge into «mineral valley» to Binn.

Day 3: Binn – Rosswald / Brig

The attractive pass hike over the Saflischpass affords the first views of the Valais 4000-metre-mountain world. The village of Rosswald offers views down into the Rhone Valley from its scenic terrace.

Day 4 : Rosswald / Brig – Simplonpass | Departure or extra nights

A varied stage, with panoramic scenery throughout: Alpine climb to Bortelhütte, blueberry picking above Rothwald in autumn. The trail leads along the pass road gallery from Schallbett to the Simplonpass.

Tour characteristic

A smooth start in the beginning in the valley of Goms. Good physical condition is required to walk the long legs. A walk for experienced hikers.

Once your booking is complete, we will check the availability of the chosen accommodation. A final confirmation will then be sent to you by email. If the service is no longer available on the date you have chosen, you will either be able to choose another date or you will receive a full refund.
